It's Friday!!!

Yeah, it is Friday... this is not gonna be my typical Friday. Why? My friend Cheryl, whom I consider my bestfriend here in the U.S., will be spending the night as well as her daughter Ashley. I'm pretty excited coz this happens once in a blue moon!!! I am multi-tasking right now.. trying to cook, work, clean-up and blog ehehehe Honestly, I shouldn't be in front of my computer trying to write this... but I can't help it, I wanted to share my excitement to you all (as if a lot of people are reading my blog eheehehe)

Anyways, I gotta go for now and will let you know how it went... I have to clean up the guestroom and change the pillow cases and bedsheets.. etc...etc...etc...

Thanks for reading!

Good day in the Windy City

Last night my MIL called me and asked me if I need to go run some errands. I said, "Yes Ma, I need to go to the post office and the grocery store". She said, "O.K., what time do you think you can wake up?"... can't answer right away, coz I'm a sleepy head :D I said, "I can wake up at 11 a.m.". She said, "Good, after running your errands, we can go see Elisa (my hubby's niece) and have lunch with her. I said, "Sure, that's a good idea". We ended up our conversation saying our goodnites.. Then morning came, my cellphone ringing... what do yo know!?! It's my MIL !!! Trying to wake me up, coz she figured I'm still sleeping... :D

After getting ready in a rush, we went ahead to the post office. The Chicago air feels good on the skin. Its kind of like a spring or fall weather. Not too cold (imagine that!? It's summer!). A few moments later, Elisa is with us and we are heading to a place called the Hollywood Grill... I ordered cheeseburger meal for Lionel and I ordered Sizzling Chicken Fajitas for me.. Sadly, the food wasn't that great. :( At least mine... I don't know about the pancakes and french toasts that they ordered. With the hamburger, maybe it's good coz finicky eater Lionel ate almost all of it. The one thing I liked about that restaurant is the service. The lady that served us is so friendly. So I gave her a nice tip. Don't ask me how much please.. ehehehehe :)

After eating and chatting a bit, we dropped off Elisa to her place and headed south (we went north-downtown Chicago). Picked up some things at the grocery store and went home.

By the way, if you are wondering why my MIL have to call me 'bout my errands, its because she is my driver :D... just kidding!!! She's just so kind enough to take me places while hubby is away coz I don't drive. At least not yet... I know, I know... I will deal with that driving thingy very soon... I can drive, but don't have a license...and need practice.
Anyways, that's how I spent my day today... not my usual boring routine. I enjoyed it... Well, it's 2:13 a.m. already... I gotta go.. not to sleep, but work , if there's some :) Or play at Winster... :D Till next time folks! Thanks for dropping by!

Posting Comments (Help Please!!!)

Please bear with me as I am a novice when it comes to blogging. I don't know what the heck is wrong with my settings. The helpful ever Aling Tikya, told me a while ago (thru YM) that she can't leave a comment again on my new post, and asked me to set it to "Anyone" which I already did yesterday and checked again today... Not only her but my "besprend" from the Philippines mentioned it to me also. So I don't really know what is going on... haaayyyy... I tried looking at the help menu but to no avail, I already did those things that's written there... Somebody help me... anybody?... please??...anyone??

MOM-Job Description

You will never ever understand how hard it is to be a mom until you yourself become one. Being a mother is the hardest job in the whole wide world!!! I know a lot of you can relate to that. I thank my "nanay" for doing a great job as she raised/molded me and my sisters into becoming a good person as we can be. I appreciated her more when I became a mother myself. That being said, I'd like you to please continue reading and tell me what you think about our job description as moms. :)

POSITION :
Mother, Mom, Mama, Mommy, Momma, Ma

JOB DESCRIPTION
:Long term, team players needed, for challenging permanent work in an, often chaotic environment. Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and be willing to work variable hours, which will include evenings and weekends and frequent 24 hour shifts on call. Some overnight travel required, including trips to primitive camping sites on rainy weekends and endless sports tournaments in far away cities. Travel expenses not reimbursed. Extensive courier duties also required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
: The rest of your life. Must be willing to be hated, at least temporarily, until someone needs $5. Must be willing to bite tongue repeatedly. Also, must possess the physical stamina of a pack mule and be able to go from zero to 60 mph in three seconds flat in case, this time, the screams from the backyard are not someone just crying wolf. Must be willing to face stimulating technical challenges, such as small gadget repair, mysteriously sluggish toilets and stuck zippers. Must screen phone calls, maintain calendars and coordinate production of multiple homework projects . Must have ability to plan and organize social gatherings for clients of all ages and mental outlooks. Must be willing to be indispensable one minute, an embarrassment the next. Must handle assembly and product safety testing of a half million cheap, plastic toys, and battery operated devices. Must always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Must assume final, complete accountability for the quality of the end product. Responsibilities also include floor maintenance and janitorial work throughout the facility.

POSSIBILITY FOR ADVANCEMENT &PROMOTION
:Virtually none. Your job is to remain in the same position for years, without complaining, constantly retraining and updating your skills, so that those in your charge can ultimately surpass you

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
:None required unfortunately. On-the-job training offered on a continually exhausting basis.

WAGES AND COMPENSATION
:Get this! You pay them! Offering frequent raises and bonuses. A balloon payment is due when they turn 18 because of the assumption that college will help them become financially independent. When you die, you give them whatever is left. The oddest thing about this reverse-salary scheme is that you actually enjoy it and wish you could only do more.

BENEFITS
: While no health or dental insurance, no pension, no tuition reimbursement, no paid holidays and no stock options are offered; this job supplies limitless opportunities for personal growth and free hugs for life if you play your cards right.

So?? What do you think? We moms are overworked and underpaid...But we must admit that we enjoy and love doing our job the best way we can. Agree? I know you do. Thanks for reading!

Did you know...

...that bananas are one of the most amazing fruits??? I'd like to share with you guys this article sent by one of my friends/former co-worker back home. I never liked bananas that much before, but now I see to it that everytime I go to the grocery store, I'd grabe a hand of bananas.
*****

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again. Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet. Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke. Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert. Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system. Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief. Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness. Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady. Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach. Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan. Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassiu! m and ma gnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal. Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack. Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine, 'eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%! Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape! So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

*****

So there you go, she's right, I never looked at a banana the same way again. :)
